Part-time jobs come in all shapes and sizes. You can work out of your home or you can head to a specific location for a few hours after or before your regular job. If you like to be out and about, consider working for a few hours each week in retail. There are always shops in the area that are looking for some extra help, and many of them enjoy having part-time employees because they are not required to pay them benefits in addition to hourly wages. Check the mall, the local shopping centers, or even discount department stores to find out who is hiring. If you think you will be too tired at the end of the day, consider picking up some extra hours before most people’s work days begin. Coffee shops, bakeries, and diners open early to serve the breakfast rush and they often have a hard time filling these early morning shifts.
If retail or restaurants are not for you, consider picking up a delivery job. This gets you out and about and gives you some flexibility. If you need early morning hours, there are newspaper delivery jobs that will have you up and making money before the crack of dawn. If this does not suit your schedule, look for something that offers more flexibility like food delivery. Some restaurants do not even require you to deliver food. They often want their menus distributed in their service area and they are willing to let you do this whenever your schedule permits. Keep in mind if you want the benefit of tips though, you will need to deliver lunch and dinner to customers.
Even in a bad economy, part time work is often easy to come by. If you have accumulated debt and you are ready to unburden yourself, consider picking up a few hours each week working part-time and making some extra money.
