Direct Market Access for Trading Cfds

What is DMA?

Direct Market Access (DMA) is an electronic system of CFD trading that offers the more experienced market participants greater price transparency, improved access to liquidity, low transaction costs, and more flexibility and control over orders. Using DMA, execution is very fast, which is important in today’s rapid-moving markets to make the most from short-lived CFD trading opportunities.

DMA is an innovation offered by a select few CFD brokers as a free add-value service across a full complement of over the counter CFD products, such as shares, forex, commodities and indices. The facility caters for the growing demand for transparency in market pricing and a central platform to trade directly into global equity markets.

DMA trading in key equity markets

DMA allows traders to easily view market depth and interact directly with live order books. With access to traditional exchanges and multilateral trading facilities, prices can be sourced widely. This provides market participants improved pricing, more chances to have their orders filled and greater liquidity.

Trading DMA CFDs gives you access to over thousand shares across the major worldwide equity markets, including: ASX Australia, LSE SETS, NASDAQ, NYSE, Amex, Euronext, Xetra Germany, MIB Italy, BME Spain, OMX Sweden, OSE Norway, ISEQ Ireland, Athex Greece, SWX Switzerland, SGX Singapore, JSE South Africa and TSX Canada.

Key benefits to DMA

DMA meets this necessity of CFD traders by offering them a number of key benefits:

  • Getting inside the spread, enabling traders to set their own prices and trade directly with other market participants
  • Being able to compare buying and selling interest by seeing the queues of buy and sell orders which give an insight into market direction
  • Improved ability to manage timings of trades by viewing market liquidity
  • Being able to participate in opening and closing auctions online, including those outside of normal trading hours
  • The functionality to see trading history within a day, showing highs and lows and changes over a day in relation to current price

CFD trading may not be suitable for everyone so please ensure you understand the risks involved. Please consider the IG Markets PDS before entering into any transaction with IG Markets.
