Buying a new beach house can be an exciting time. You’re completely in a new environment. You are unfamiliar with the ceilings, walls and floors and likely still learning the new layout. You want your beach house to look it’s best. To be a place where you can relax and get away form your troubles for a few days or a weekend. Choosing the right kind of paint for the interior can be challenging. Painting a beach home is difficult as it is, and you are like me you want to get it right the first time around. Make certain the interior paint that you buy matches up with your existing areas you are not painting. If you are painting a light color over a darker wall color, you will need a primer or an interior paint that has the primer and paint in one. If the previous owners can tell you what color and brand they used in your beach house it can help in the selection process when you go to the paint store. By providing them exactly what you need or currently have in the home, they can assist you in color selection. If you can’t provide them the information, take home some paint samples to see how they appear in your beach house.
Take a long hard look at the choices you have at the paint store. You will see they have many different brands that vary in quality and price. If you but low quality paint, you will likely have to pay several coats on the walls for to get a good even coat and achieve the color you are looking for. Granted, you don’t want to get ripped off, but choosing a high quality paint will generally take less time to apply evenly (one or two coats), withstand wear, be easier to clean, and will last longer in the long run.
It’s okay if you don’t know everything about home remodeling. Some people do it for a living. Builders, contractors, subcontractors and other home decorators might be able to give you some words of wisdom and help that you might not be able to get otherwise. Don’t be afraid to ask. Just ask them for a little help and you might be able to save yourself some time and headaches.
